Services provided by Counselors

Guidance Curriculum

Our school counselors provide a comprehensive, developmental program for all students in grades K–12. The program supports academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and career readiness through prevention, early intervention, and individualized planning. All services align with Pennsylvania Career Standards and are approved by the School Board.

Elementary School

Counselors deliver classroom lessons focused on social skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and early career awareness.


Middle and High School

Students engage in career exploration and postsecondary planning. Lessons emphasize goal setting, course selection, job readiness skills, and preparation for college, trade, military, or workforce pathways.

 

Additional Supports for all Grade Levels Include:

  • Preventative small-group counseling

  • Student recognition programs

  • School transition support

  • Parent meetings and informational sessions

Responsive Services

Direct Student Support

  • Short-term, solution-focused counseling

  • Peer mediation and conflict resolution

  • Targeted small-group counseling

 

Referral and Consultation

  • Referrals to community agencies and in-school services

  • Consultation regarding safety concerns, including suicide risk or threats

 

Crisis Response

Counselors are active members of the school’s emergency response team and provide crisis counseling as needed.

Parents, teachers, and students regularly consult with school counselors to address academic, personal, social, and career-related concerns. Our counseling services focus on both prevention and early intervention, helping students build resilience and develop healthy coping strategies.

Individual Student Planning

Counselors partner with students and families to create individualized academic and career plans that support informed decision-making and successful transitions.

 

Planning Services Include:

  • Career assessments and postsecondary exploration

  • Course selection aligned with graduation requirements and goals

  • Development of a K–12 educational plan and student portfolio

  • Collaboration with staff to support individual student needs

 

Counselors serve on IEP, 504, and Gifted (GIEP) teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support.

 

 

Individualized Planning Support

  • Assist students in developing personalized career plans through interest inventories, skills assessments, and postsecondary exploration.

  • Guide students and families through course selection to ensure alignment with academic goals, graduation requirements, and future career aspirations.

  • Coordinate the development and ongoing review of a comprehensive K–12 educational plan and student portfolio using data-informed decision-making.

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address individual student needs and promote academic success.

Collaborative Team Involvement

School counselors are integral members of student support teams, including:

  • Individualized Education Program (IEP) Teams

  • Section 504 Teams

  • Gifted Individualized Education Plan (GIEP) Teams

Through this collaborative approach, counselors help ensure that each student receives the appropriate support and planning needed to achieve their full potential.

School counselors are integral members of the school community, contributing to program development, staff learning, and the delivery of comprehensive schoolwide services that support student success.

Tutoring

We are pleased to partner with CrossNet Ministries to offer after-school tutoring services for our High School students.

There is no cost to participate in this tutoring program.
